COLUMBUS, Ohio—A leading national provider of underground storage tank (UST) system testing and cleaning, US Tank Alliance Inc., was recently awarded a three-year contract with the Shell Oil Company to keep regional Shell facilities in annual compliance with local, state and federal UST testing requirements.
US Tank will provide UST testing services to approximately 1,500 Shell facilities across the United States. The contract covers facilities along the East Coast region, from Massachusetts to Florida, and other states including Illinois, Texas, Louisiana, Washington and Oregon.
Shell is a global group of oil, gas and petrochemical companies, operating in more than 140 countries and territories.

US Tank will be implementing its compliance database system, TANKTRAXX, in the contracted regions. TANKTRAXX was developed by US Tank Alliance to track UST compliance testing and provide all necessary follow up to make sure that a facility’s tank system is compliant and any required repairs are completed and retested within the allowable timeframe. These sophisticated databases track state regulations, local guidelines, specific equipment details and scheduled tank testing. A profile is set up for each client’s tank and a compliance plan is developed, which is regularly updated and easily accessible. Custom reports are generated including budget details, upcoming tests, and a trend analysis of failed equipment. TANKTRAXX will also red-flag equipment failures to facilitate re-tests US Tank has partnered with Shell on previous projects. In 2005, US Tank used its PetroPure® technology with Shell to help the company prepare 3,000 USTs, from Massachusetts to Virginia and parts of Texas, for ethanol conversion.
